It was the turn of Petron Blaze to withstand a late game run by Talk ‘N Text.

Danny Ildefonso buried an important jumper from deep in the left corner that gave the Boosters the breathing space they needed to preserve a 91-89 win in Game Two of their best-of-seven semifinal series against the Tropang Texters in the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Saturday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Ildefonso’s basket with 14.8 seconds left in the game came after the Tropang Texters unloaded a 10-1 blast to threaten cut the lead to a single point, 87-86.

IF there is one team that badly needs this holiday break prior to the coming PBA Philippine Cup semifinals, it’s no less than the defending champion itself, Talk `N Text.

Although the Tropang Texters salvaged a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs by finishing as the second ranked team at the end of the eliminations, they hobbled for the most part of their 14-game campaign as key players were saddled with injuries one after the other.

The casualties include the team’s backcourt of Jimmy Alapag, Jayson Castro, Jarred Dilinger and Ryan Reyes, together with big men Ranidel de Ocampo, Aaron Aban and Ali Peek.

IN A recent interview, Barako Bull guard Willie Miller admitted his team is treading dangerous grounds.

"Parang naghinintay lang kami ng playoffs at saka doon i-tu-turn on ang game. Lalo na kaming mga beterano, dahil nga sanay na kami sa playoff atmosphere," said two-time Most Valuable Player.

"Medyo delikado iyon dahil baka hindi mag-on," he added. "Kaya nga dapat iyung desire at energy namin naipapakita na ngayon pa lang. Kapag di nangyari iyon sa susunod na laro at lalo na sa playoffs kasalanan na talaga namin."

MANILA, Philippines - Playoff top seeds B-Meg and Talk n Text are not looking far ahead, knowing their twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals is not a sure ticket to the next round of the PBA Philippine Cup.

The Llamados and the Tropang Texters insist the Powerade Tigers and the Barako Bull Energy are tough threats, boasting of talents and skills that can match up with any team in the league.

Talk n Text takes on Barako Bull at 5:15 p.m. while B-Meg tangles with Powerade at 7:30 p.m. at the start of the quarterfinals tomorrow at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Barangay Ginebra waxed hot in the final period and pulled off an impressive 96-82 demolition of defending champion Talk ‘N Text in the final game of the eliminations of the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Sunday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The Kings outscored the Tropang Texters in the final 12 minutes, 32-17, to pull away from a tight contest and end the initial phase of the tournament with a five-game winning streak for a 9-5 win-loss record.

After struggling all-game long, Japeth Aguilar found a way to be useful for the limping Talk ‘N Text squad.

The former No. 1 overall pick completed two huge plays in the final 3.7 seconds and helped the Tropang Texters escape with a miraculous 80-78 win over Petron Blaze to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage in the next round of the 2011-12 PBA Philippine Cup Tuesday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Aguilar was in-and-out of the game due to poor performance and even got a mouthful from coach Chot Reyes on one occasion, but the former Smart Gilas mainstay kept his focus and returned in the closing seconds to bring his team the victory.

Talk n Text tries to protect its hold of the lead while two rampaging teams look to sustain their charges and affect a shakeup in the leader board.

The Tropang Texters meet one of these two teams head-on in a rare PBA Tuesday bill at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Texters and the B-Meg Llamados slug it out at 7:30 p.m. to close out the November play dates of the PBA Philippine Cup. Despite a humbling loss the last time out, the Texters are still the tournament leaders but look vulnerable with a badly depleted roster.
